Indian Fashion Fusion and Summer Colors!

It turns out that there are a never-ending number of ways to combine cute summer dresses with Indian jewelry – whether at work or at play.  Here are some looks to check out below:

Turquoise Dress and Indian Pearls

Turquoise Dress 2

You may have already seen this Indian pearl necklace paired with a little black dress in an earlier post, but I think it’s worth checking them out again with another look.  I initially worried that the turquoise dress wouldn’t be able to carry this heavy Indian jewelry, but as you can see, I was wrong!  It works perfectly.

I probably wouldn’t wear this Indian pearl necklace out to happy hour – it’s pretty heavy and conservative, but it does work perfectly at work or at a board meeting.  And if you have a business dinner or mixer, feel free to trot this combo out.

Let’s take a look at another “look”:

Summer Print Dress With Indian Diamond Pendant

Before you gasp at the word “diamond”, know that smaller diamond pendants are actually kind of affordable in India.  If you are the type of person that drops 500-600 bucks at JC Penney or Macy’s for jewelry (and I have met those people), please stop.  And if you are one of those people who glories in bringing home a little blue box from Tiffany’s, then I really need you to stop.  I want you to find an Indian jewelry store, and prepare to haggle hard for a good price.

You can get a nice, small Indian diamond pendant for $500-$800 bucks.  The gold necklace (ie, the “chain”) may cost extra, but you can swap out your chain with different pendants, so it is somewhat cost effective.  Granted, if you are just out of college, you probably won’t be in the market for this type of pendant.  That’s okay.  Bookmark this look, and start planning for it.  You will need these pendants later on in your career, and later on is not that far off.

I find that these little Indian diamond pendants work perfectly with all types of prints.  They are small enough to go to work and to happy hour, but their quality is excellent enough to bring a note of elegance to any ensemble you have on.

Here’s another, entirely different look:

Wedding Guest Dress and Indian Jeweled Pendant

Green Dress 2

The best part about summers: weddings!  I love going to weddings – American and Indian – because it gives me a chance to pair up some beautiful Indian pendants with my best going-out day dresses.

With this combo, I think the emeralds in the pendant nicely offset the green of the dress.  It’s not a typical look – I usually put on a diamond pendant with this dress – but I think the gold base of this pendant works well with the pastel green of the fabric.

I might wear this pendant to work, but probably with a deeper tone and thicker fabric . . . but I do think that if you throw a black blazer on top of this dress, you could possibly get away with it at work.

Now let’s take a look at another Indian Fashion Fusion “look”:

Summer Dresses and Indian Earrings

Earrings 1

Up to this point, I’ve focused mostly on necklaces,  but I couldn’t resist one quick look at some Indian jeweled earrings.  These are simply gorgeous – pure 22k gold, with pearls inset into the design.  I actually have 3 additional pairs of these earrings, each with a different type of gemstone – ruby, sapphire, and turquoise.  Needless to say, it makes color coordination with outfits super easy!  These pearls work well with the turquoise dress – I would refrain from using a stone that matches the dress color, since I think that’s too matchy-matchy.
